Penumbra Development
• Penumbra Development was a company started by myself and two fellow UT students. • We worked on an application (The Tutor App) which was designed to be the “Uber of education”. • We built a platform where students and tutors could sign up. Tutors declared their areas of proficiency, set their availability, and desired hourly rate. Students could then find the perfect tutor and book a session through the application. Sessions could be done remotely or in person with payment being handled through Stripe. • As a Co-Founder I participated in the development process, the fundraising process (raised $200k from UT alumni VC’s), and eventually the management of interns and a PM. • After two years of trying to organically grow the platform, we decided it was best for everyone to move on. • We were officially recognized by the UT student government and given the honor of being named UT student entrepreneurs of the year for the year 2015-2016. • Austin Tech Incubator class of 2014 Alumni
